Dachshunds exhibit three coat varieties. The most common and associated with the dachshund is the smooth-haired coat. The next most recognized is the long coat. The wire-haired dachshund is least common, and most recent coat to appear in breeding standards. Dachshunds have a wide variety of coloration and patterns. They can be single colored, two-colored, or dappled.
